There are so many ways by which you can remotely access your computer files over the Internet but the service that I am currently in love with is ZumoCast – simple, elegant and it’s free to use without any limitations. With ZumoCast installed, you don’t ever have to upload your desktop files to the cloud but you’ll still be able to access them from other computers or your iOS devices. To get started, just install the ZumoCast client on your Windows or Mac computer and select the folders on your desktop that you would like to access remotely.

Google’s Realtime Search offers you a convenient way to search through status updates, news articles and other links that are shared on the social web, mainly Twitter and Facebook. Microsoft too has a similar search product called Bing Social and though both these tools are powered by the same data coming from Twitter and Facebook, I find Bing’s Social Search a slightly better product than Google’s Realtime Search. Both Bing and Google display search results from Facebook and Twitter in a self-updating river of news format but with Bing Social, you have an option to filter out status updates by source.

The Kindle store at Amazon.com offers you access to around 700,000 electronic titles which also includes public domain works that are free . Sony says their eBook store has more than 1.2 million titles but if we discount Google Books, the actual store size is around 60,000 titles . Barnes & Noble’s eBook store too claims to have more than a million books for the Nook but the number of titles available in the store is around 26,000 – the rest are public domain (out of copyright) works that you may download through Google Books.

Let’s say a company is about to launch a new product and, as is the standard practice, they have pre-briefed a select group of media outlets and bloggers about the news under an embargo. The launch date is close and writers have already prepared their news stories so that they can push them as soon as embargo is lifted. And then something strange happens – one media outlet publishes the story ahead of time thus breaking the embargo – intentionally or unintentionally
