Today’s Coffee Brew: Trader Joe Organic Fair Trade Five Country Espresso Blend

Trader Joe’s Organic Fair Trade Five Country Espresso Blend may be up there with the best TJ’s coffees I’ve ever tasted. The can describes the Five Country Espresso Blend as “strong, rich and well-balanced”, and that about sums it up – but man, if there was a way to amplify each of those adjectives by about 100, it would be a whole lot closer to true. Let me start off by saying that Trader Joe’s is my fallback option when I’m buying coffee

I’m Baaaack… and coffee will never be the same!

Did you miss me? It’s been a long, hot summer here in New England, and with a pair of teen boys to keep me busy, I haven’t had much time for enjoying coffee, let alone writing about it

Butterfly mind… (and Day 28 of the rather unsuccessful writing challege)

OK, maybe butterfly mind is too flattering a description. Maybe a more accurate one would be: concentration span somewhere between that of a gnat and a goldfish.

Day um…is it 13 of the crazy writing challenge?

I know, I know, I went quiet again. I had proofs to go through on The Secret Shopper Unwrapped which took longer than expected, and then copy edits on my rewrites of my first novel, Old School Ties. I’ve just finished both which is a huge relief and that means I can devote the rest of August to my Experiment (well, and to sunbathing and getting my fat writer’s bum to the gym)

New Poll: Your favorite travel mug?

I’ve got a new poll up – finally! But before I go into that, let me give you the results of the Coffee and Romance poll… it’s been up so long that you might not remember it at all. That’s because it took so long for people to respond to it – but FINALLY I think there’s enough responses there to report the results on “ What’s the most romantic coffee moment?

Coffeebreak at work. "Call me the Breeze"

In daily life I have a small painting company, sometimes I do take my guitar with me to work. In this case we just finished decorating a house, and as a kind of farewell I played some songs for my customer & relatives. It was filmed by my former employee Bair Slabbers.

Green Mountain Coffee Catalog

Lovely surprise in the mail this morning – I got my Green Mountain Coffee catalog and it’s a delight. There’s lots more than just coffee to love here – the Summer catalog features some of the most gorgeous coffee mugs I’ve ever seen. Y’all know that I love coffee mugs, so it shouldn’t be any surprise that these hand-thrown Dan Lasser coffee mugs caught my eye immediately – just look at how gorgeous this is: Every single Aurora mug is by Dan Lasser is hand-crafted and – according to the catalog – takes at least a week to create

Sunday Morning Coffee and the News

Credit: woodsy@stock.xchang It’s another gorgeous summer Sunday morning here and I’m enjoying my morning coffee out on the patio and sifting through the newspaper to see what’s up and what’s new in the coffee world. Over at Mike’s coffee blog , there’s a lot of talk about the coffee wars, for which he provides frequent updates. Well, up in New York, the coffee wars have a new entrant – new to New York, if not to the coffee world

Talking about coffee – around the blogs

This morning, I spent a bit of time wandering around to see who’s talking about coffee and what they have to say… here’s a roundup of the coffee news, the coffee blogs and what the caffeinistas are saying about coffee this morning. My fave MSNBC news host, Carlos Watson runs The Stimulist blog, a great mashup of pop culture, news and neat stuff. Yesterday, The Stimulist posted about coffee curing Alzheimers – or at least reducing memory loss due to Alzheimers.

8 O’Clock Gr8 Taste Mug

8 O’Clock Coffee Mug is Gr8! Y’all might remember that a few weeks back I ordered up a coffee mug from Eight O’Clock Coffee ’s Accumul8 Rewards program. It just arrived and the first thing I did was have the girl-child snap a picture of it with her phone (my camera grew legs and walked away a couple of months ago) so y’all could see it. I will tell you that the photo does not do it justice.

OKAMOTO MITSUHIRO Coffee Break 1
All sorts

Back from Vietnam, with a souvenir I hadn’t anticipated – the most ginormous black eye! Managed to get mugged on our last night there, and visitors to tonight’s New Romantics launch will get a close-up, but I am quite proud of the many colours, so thought I’d share it with you…I’d asked my New Romantic colleagues to wear something pink or red to the event, and Jojo Moyes said I had taken it a bit TOO far… Actually, the trip was brilliant – fascinating, inspiring, moving – especially the places connected to the recent conflicts. It’s given me lots and lots of ideas for books, so watch this space.
