I have so much email I could cry. Sometimes I break into a cold sweat watching the number of messages pour in. Sometimes I wake up from a dead sleep and sit straight up in bed thinking about my email

The view from my desk… I think there’s a message in there. The two tiny figures on the roof don’t seem to have Builder’s Block so I guess I shouldn’t claim Writer’s Block either

I want to introduce you to Schelli Whitehouse (left). She wrote a most interesting blog post on how to Attract the Perfect Clients with Authenticity and Leadership which had me nodding along, laughing (especially at the horse-eating plastic bag, lol!) , and giving her points some deep thought. Particularly on the point of my business being a reflection of myself… If you run a service-based business, or work directly with clients or customers of any kind, you’ll find this interesting.

If you have an affiliate program, your highest priority is to recruit active affiliates and get them to promote your product or service. You may have already done everything you can think of to get the opportunity in front of people, but still… very little activity. And it’s a great opportunity! So why aren’t they biting?! Did you know that just one or two super affiliates can out-perform the rest of your affiliates combined?

I was never what you’d call a runner, even as a child. In fact, all PE activities gave me the heebie-jeebies. I even used to beg my mum to write me sick notes and as she was a nurse, she’d add in various medical terms to justify my laziness.

“More than 70 extraordinary authors and thinkers contributed to this book. It’s designed to make you sit up and think, to change your new year’s resolutions, to foster some difficult conversations with your team”… Free download: What Matters Now On this New Years Day I sat down to read the new anthology put out for free by Seth Godin just a few weeks ago. It’s a collective work, with a goal of getting it in the hands of 5 million people

As my own blogs are rather few and far between now, here are two cool links: This is an excellent programme about writing and getting published , The Write Lines, on Radio Oxford: hosted by author and broadcaster Sue Cook , with contributions from the very talented Marie Phillips , Elizabeth Chadwick , Caroline Smailes , Mark Billingham and others (I’m halfway through listening, so apologies if I’ve missed anyone) – but hurry, as it’s only available for the rest of today, I think.

It astonishes me that I’ve now been a published author for more than six years. How can time pass so darned fast? I’ve been looking back because this week my first novel, Old School Ties , is being republished (in a new, hopefully improved form).
