It is available at this link (PDF). It is long but contains rather interesting views on the issue of health IT, management and clinicians (nurses).

Obama to Hospitals: Grant Visiting Rights to Gay Couples | 80beats

Last night, President Obama issued a memo that will change hospital visitation rights around the country. The administration will draft new rules declaring that any hospital participating in the government’s Medicare and Medicaid programs—which is most of them—will no longer be allowed to bar visitors that patients desire to have access to them. This has been a particular hardship for gay Americans, who have been turned away from visiting sick loved ones because of policies that allow visitin…

two new panels

Translating the painted designs into full sized 90 inch cloth pieces is a little daunting but a start was made yesterday at the regular Thursday sewing circle. Three different women over the course of the day worked on the blue dotted eyelet stitches pictured left.

FDA Looking at Triclosan

The Washington Post had a story by Lyndsey Layton this past week:  FDA says studies on triclosan, used in sanitizers and soaps, raise concerns. Deep Rifts with the skeptics!

It’s been a long term issue: a lot of vocal skeptics want nothing to do with atheism. They see it as a difficult issue that could sidetrack campaigns to encourage critical thinking, even though a lot of prominent skeptics are also atheists. I’ve never quite seen the logic: they’re going to oppose the use of magic crystals to enhance your aura, but praying to a magical sky-primate to bring you a new bicycle…eh, it doesn’t hurt.
