How the iPad Model Can Work in India – India Real Time – WSJ

While Apple Inc. has focused its sales of the iPad in the West on home users, the most interesting market for iPad-like tablet devices in India could be small businesses and start-ups. Many of these businesses outside India’s tech …

Fast Money Tool, A New Site for Writers, and an Announcement

One of our longest time members Marc Meole, let me know about a new tool he’s created called The Fast Money Tool to help you achieve what the product name promises; fast money . Given Marc has been a member here for over 5 years and has a great reputation he’s already earned my trust, but I thought I’d outline some of the features here in case anyone out there was looking for some help in making money online. According to Marc, “I’ve been working online for about 7 years now.

Speculoos à Tartiner

I don’t have conclusive proof, but I’m going to say it anyways: the cashiers at my local Monoprix are perhaps the least pleasant people in all of France. I once needed to use their photo machine for some documents, which required a €5 note

Give Me Specifics!

One of the most powerful techniques in marketing is giving specifics… or NOT! When selling or marketing products, you need to know when to give specific examples, testimonials, or evidence, and when to hold back. For example let’s explore the commercials that offer a faster Internet connection. Cable companies like Comcast and others highlight the fact that their Internet connection speeds are “Up to 2 times faster” than some other brand.

What is a Cold Cream?

Cold cream is an emulsion of fats and water which can be used to clean and soften the skin. Traditionally, cold cream has been used to remove makeup gently at the end of the day, and it can also be used to soften tough skin on the knees and elbows, or to keep skin protected from harsh winter weather. Many drug stores and beauty suppliers sell cold cream, often in a variety of styles; different brands have different ingredients, and some people experiment with several before finding one which works.

See Twitter as an Animated Parade – Very Nice!

This is probably the cutest Twitter app ever. Just put your Twitter username (or any other search phrase) in IsParade.jp and the app will create an animated parade of the search results with some good marching band music (though you may want to reduce the volume a bit). The animation is interactive so you can click the faces of anyone marching in the parade and it will pop-up the associated tweet in a bubble

True Facts

On I-190, between Exit 1 and the I-290 interchange in Worcester, the sign on the side of the road says, “Powerlines Overhead”. Sure enough, about 20 feet later, there are powerlines overhead. So, now I know something that I didn’t know before but it does me little good.

Content Ratings Appear on Some YouTube Videos

Movies often carry ratings like “U”, “PG” or “R” to help parents know if there’s anything in the film that may not be suitable for viewing by their children. A similar rating system exists in YouTube as well but for advertisers.

I heart you

I took this quilt over to the Perivale gallery today along with the two new mixed media pieces and a watercolour. The quilt is 90 inches high and may be too large to display, but Shiela kept it anyway to see if she could place it. Perivale gallery is in a period of flux, as Shiela’s daughter, Shannon, has moved to Manitoulin to help her mother and eventually take over the gallery

Spring Garlic Has Arrived: CSR’s Weekly Local Purchases

By Randall Mack I find the waiting period during our transition from early Spring to late Spring here in Colorado to be trying at times.  We are so close to a bountiful harvest yet we are at the mercy of mother-nature and at times seem so far away.  Even though the tulips are smiling all around us most of our produce has decided to stay hidden, they take their own sweet time before revealing their delicious faces.  It doesn’t help when we take one step towards summer one day and ten steps back into winter the next day, and I thought I was indecisive.  It’s the middle of May and my shorts are already starting to collect dust again, and if you can imagine what the weather is doing to my wardrobe it is only making matters worse for our farmers.  That being said, our farmers always seem to have a trick up their sleeves and are able to stay one step ahead of ole’ mother-nature.  Rowan, over at Jay Hill Farms, never ceases to amaze me.  This week she showed up with 15 pounds of some beautiful and pungent spring garlic.  The minute she walked in the door with it I was drawn to the wafts of intoxicating and enchanting aromas that exist in the excellence that is spring garlic.  Spring garlic is young garlic that has not yet produced it’s bulbs, and although rather fragrant the garlic has a nice mild taste and is much more subtle than mature garlic bulbs.  It is a perfect compliment to excite many dishes, such as vinaigrette or when sautéing veggies.  The mild taste allows for all the wonderful garlic essence without all that garlic after essence.  I prefer it to mature garlic as it has a cleaner and simple flavor and does not over power my dishes.  It can also be enjoyed raw which is something I try to avoid when using mature garlic.

Cultural Relics From the Space Race Rescued From the Trash | Visual Science

NEXT> What is garbage to one is gold to another. The juicy new title by Blast Books, “Another Science Fiction” is proof. Incredibly, most of the images in this book came from discards from several libraries that were rescued by author and space history buff Megan Prelinger for her library in San Fransico, Prelinger Library.

The Ideal Email Marketing Strategy – Q&A

During his List Control promotion I could swear I heard Frank Kern say ‘why using an autoresponder is actually not a great idea’ or words to that effect. When someone subscribes to your blog, you simply send them a notficiation about new posts. So I was just wondering if you’d considered using an autoresponder in your email marketing strategy – and any reasons you have for not using one.
