The Battery Life of iPad According to Steve Jobs

While the iPad surely looks like a great device for reading books or for surfing the web from the couch, very few people outside Apple (except Stephen Colbert ) may have had a chance to use the Apple tablet first-hand. Therefore, whatever little we know of iPad’s battery life is based on the technical specs that say — “ up to 10 hours of surfing the web on Wi-Fi, watching video, or listening to music” — followed by this lengthy disclaimer: Testing consisted of full battery discharge while performing each of the following tasks: video playback, audio playback, and Internet browsing using Wi-Fi

How to Track Your Favorite Pages on Facebook

There are generally two reasons why people fan pages on Facebook. You love a particular product and by becoming a fan, you can show your appreciation for that product to the world. That is one of the reasons why I am a fan of Google , O’Reilly , Creative Commons , and a dozen other pages on Facebook.

Truffle Hunting

It’s not all fun and frolic—and chocolate—around here. Aside from dealing with banks that limit access to your own money, or scratching your head when the France Telecom representative tells you that it’s going to cost you a mere €465 to keep your mobile number if you change to another one of their other phone plans (although it was a stretch to even get there; his first response was, “Yes. It is not possible”), believe it or not, there are some less-than-pastoral things about life here

February Ornament of the Month

This year, I am attempting to bulk up my Cross Stitch ornament collection. I have stitched hundreds of ornaments over the years, but most of them were given as gifts and only a few ended up on my tree. So, toward this effort, I used some of Sue Chastain’s Graphic Software motifs to create some abstract little designs to stitch and add to my tree.

Tour, Tour Everywhere!

This weekend I stayed home, I stayed inside, I stayed off of the treadmill, and I stitched! I managed to finish page 5 and started page 6!Here are this weekend’s photos… taken without leaving the house (yay!)Saturday January 30 – Hunter and Cuddles trying to lick leftover tuna out of a container. Quite funny since the container isn’t big enough for both of them to eat out of it!Sunday January

White Sands Review

I am one of those women that HAVE to shampoo and condition my hair every single day if not twice a day. I had a hair stylist that used to tell me to do this only every other day. NO WAY! I have to have my hair feel clean at all times

Helping Others To Be Great

In his Extraordinary Conversations newsletter , consultant Patrick O’Neill says that assisting others to be great involves: Situation awareness: You need to be alert to what is happening around you so that you can make real-time decisions about the best opportunities to achieve collective goals. Recognize strengths and weaknesses: You need to understand the strengths and weaknesses of others and assist them to grow and improve, instead of envying their strengths or complaining about their weaknesses. Loyalty: Make a commitment that every day you will do your best for your team and teammates.

Biz Psych: Foot In The Door Phenomenon

Business Pundit says that business is all about people. That being the case, perhaps we should stop reading management books for advice and start looking at social psychology. Smart marketers and executives have been using the findings of this growing field for decades to close sales, hold effective meetings and get their way in negotiations.

First, don’t do this: In what is being billed as “rationalism's Kool-Aid moment”, a mass “overdose” is being planned next week in protest at the marketing of homoeopathic medicines. More than 300 people who style themselves as “homoeopathy sceptics” will each swallow an entire bottle of homoeopathic pills in protest at the continued marketing of homoeopathic medicines by Boots, the high street chemist chain

Drawing with fabric

velvet and rayon couched to felted wool Before Christmas the Cornerstone gallery contacted me to see if I would mount a small exhibition in their space around the same time as my workshop in Kingston. Even though I was already committed to an exhibition at Greenwood Quiltery in Guelph for the same time period (april-may 2010) I said yes. It means gathering together two completely different bodies of work and finishing up some pieces.

The Law on Accured Vacation Time

I have screened plenty of calls from the recently terminated , and by far the most common inquiry involves a separated employees’ right to accrued vacation pay. My answer – it depends. At ” As Records Go Digital, Cultures Clash, Bringing to Life Secrets the Health IT Companies Don’t Want You to Know ” I wrote of the used-car nature of the healthcare IT market, where lemon laws do not seem to exist and “physician buyer beware” seems a defining characteristic.
